How Cara Brzezicki Found Confidence and Connection Through Life Coach Certification

From Loss to a New Direction

Cara Brzezicki’s journey to becoming a coach began in heartbreak. While six months pregnant with her daughter, she experienced a stillbirth that forever changed her perspective on life. Grief brought her to therapy, where her therapist gently suggested that she might make a wonderful life coach. At first, Cara resisted the idea.

“I used to want to be a therapist, but I’m an empath. I was afraid I’d take people’s emotions home with me,” she recalled. Yet within a week, a friend echoed the same suggestion. “When something is spoken to you and you hear it, then you hear it again, there’s something going on in the world that you’re supposed to listen to.”

After reflecting deeply and praying on it, Cara felt called to the Jay Shetty Certification School. She had followed Jay for years, admiring his story and his heart. “His kindness and the fact that ego is not a part of it was huge for me. His heart and soul shined very brightly.”

Learning to Listen, Not Fix

Before entering the program, Cara considered herself a fixer. If someone had a problem, she thought her role was to solve it for them. Through training, she discovered a new way of serving.

“One of the things I have to say about the program is the active listening. I don’t think you truly learn how to do it until you go through a school, especially with Jay, because of his wisdom and how he puts everything. The most beautiful thing is hearing people, listening to them, and realizing that they have to go through their own journey.”

“I thought it was my job to fix people. What I’ve learned is that listening and allowing them to grow is the greatest service I can give.”

Confidence Born from Wholeness

The training didn’t just equip Cara with new skills; it also transformed how she saw herself. She recalled a playful family moment that revealed the change.

Her brother had said, “My wife is my Yang to my Ying.” Cara responded, “I’m my Yang to my Ying. I’m my full, complete self.” Her mother teased, “Good thing life coaching gave you some confidence.” Then, more seriously, she added how wonderful it was to hear her daughter speak that way.

“Beforehand, I believed I was a half and needed someone else to make me whole. That’s not true. We all are our own whole entity. Coaching gave me so much more confidence to understand who I want to be and who I am.”

From People-Pleaser to Light-Bearer

Cara had spent much of her life as a people pleaser. Coaching gave her the courage to find her own voice.

“I call myself a recovering people pleaser now. I had all these opinions and believed I had great input, but I could never share it. It was like this little light inside me was dim. Now it feels like it’s shining, and I don’t want to keep it to myself. I want to share it so others can have the same experience.”

“It feels like what I have inside of me could just be shared and glimmered out to the world.”

A Community of Soul-Level Connections

Beyond the lessons, Cara treasures the community she found. “These people that you meet are soul-level people,” she said. “You can’t truly find that camaraderie with just anybody. I love my cohort. I love this school. I love the people I have met, even in other cohorts. I would have never met them in my life if it wasn’t for this school.”

She describes it as meeting others who share a light and a purpose to serve. “We all came to Jay Shetty School for a reason, because of him. He shines brightly, and we want to make sure we’re doing the same.”

Living with Gratitude

Losing her daughter reshaped Cara’s approach to life, grounding her in gratitude. She signs every message with “Grateful, Cara” as a daily practice. “My life now is lived in true gratefulness,” she said. “The program amplified that, reminding me that when more lights come together, the world gets brighter.”

“Life changing. Soul propelling and gratitude.”

Advice for Those Considering the Path

Cara encourages others to trust themselves if they feel pulled toward this work. “Trust yourself. That first gut feeling is usually right. Listen to people who have good, soul-hearted light. Once you follow the right people and listen to yourself, there’s nowhere wrong you could go.”

Even for those who don’t plan to coach, she believes the life lessons are priceless. “Even if you never coach again, the life lessons you learn to be a better wife, husband, mom, dad, friend, or co-worker—you can never pay enough money to learn these lessons for the rest of your life.”
